Alli Meria District
"Alli Meria" is a village in the municipality of Volos in the prefecture of Magnesia in Thessaly. It is located east of Volos at the foot of Pelion. It is famous for its traditional restaurants, taverns and tsipouro restaurants, some in the coolness by the river and others with panoramic views of the city of Volos up to the port.
Origin of the place name:
As is usually the case, there are more than one version of the origin of the village name.
The first, which is considered the most popular, is the most obvious. The village was named after the location where it is built. It is the other side, the east, of the great Ano Volos or the Municipality of Iolkos (1883-1912).
