According to Greek mythology, Pelion was inhabited by the legendary Centaurs - mythical creatures with a human body from the middle and above and a horse body from the middle and below. The most famous was the Centaur Chiron, teacher of many mythical heroes such as Achilles, Theseus, Jason and Asclepius.

Today, the mountain of Centaurs rises imposingly above Volos, uniquely combining the mountainous and coastal landscape. Drowned in the green, Pelion has an extensive network of trails and cobbled streets that are ideal for endless tours.

In this rich nature is Agios Georgios Nileias, the highest village of Pelion built at an altitude of about 620 meters with an amphitheater position between two large slopes. The traditional cobbled streets of the village lead to places with impressive panoramic views, while one of them leads to the Aloni Theater which proudly overlooks the entire Pagasitic gulf and beyond.

For 20 years, the Aloni Theater has been reviving the long artistic tradition of the place as, at the end of the 18th century and the beginning of the 20th, many inhabitants of the village were in Egypt and Europe and who returned brought many positive cultural influences. Thus, the village was taught European dances (such as tango and waltz), music, song, piano - it is indicative that the large mansions definitely had a piano - while the square was full of life thanks to the often organized artistic events. The theatrical herds have left a great history since that time with the village of Agios Georgios being their main station. (See related section.)

Thus, the Aloni Theater continues this important cultural project, offering teaching and entertainment, inspired by the history of the place and the life-giving nature. While, the first supporters of the Theater were the descendants of those cosmopolitan villagers, motivating even today with great enthusiasm spectators from the wider region and all of Greece.
