It' s amphitheatrically built, really picturesque and it reminds one of an island. It is surrounded by three attractive beaches, Kallifteri, Lagoudi and Abovos. The shady square of Afissos is bisected by a small stream which is the same one - according to tradition - where the Argonauts cooled their tongues before they set out on their journey to the far away Kolhis.
